The Buildings and Grounds Committee oversees the upkeep of our building and grounds, coordinates with our tenants, and facilitates building use requests.

The Communications Committee strategizes church communication and manages various platforms like our website, newsletter, and social media.

The Finance Committee oversees the budget and manages the church’s finances.

The Memorial Committee coordinates the administration and management of our columbarium.

A subset of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the Naturalization Committee oversees our efforts to be responsible stewards of the environment, through projects such as creating a bioswale next to our parking lot and planting numerous native plants on our grounds.

The Stewardship Committee oversees our pledge process and coordinates other stewardship activities, including connecting parishioners with ministry opportunities.

The Technology Committee manages the technology needs at Grace, including infrastructure and digital tools.

Volunteers care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish, prepare the sanctuary for services, and decorate the church for special days and liturgical seasons.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) are volunteers authorized to administer the consecrated elements (bread or wine) at a celebration of Holy Eucharist. At Grace, you will find us near the altar supporting the Celebrant in preparing the table and then serving the chalice during our Eucharistic feast.

Lectors read the scripture passages and prayers during the worship service.

These volunteers operate the livestream cameras during the Sunday service for people who worship with us online.

Each Sunday, worship is typically led by the organ, and from September through Pentecost the choir gathers to lead the congregation in hymns, responses, and anthems. Music is selected with careful attention to the appointed lectionary readings and reflects the richness of the Anglican tradition, drawing from both historic repertoire and more recent works.

These volunteers welcome people to our worship services, prepare the worship space, and guide the congregation during the service.

These volunteers prepare refreshments for our time of fellowship following Sunday services.

The Community Support Team coordinates opportunities to be involved with and serve our community, such as blood drives, providing shelter meals for Family Promise, coordinating “Share A Christmas”, providing financial support for ministries such as Family Promise, St. John’s Immigrant Advocacy Fund, and Eastern Ave Food Pantry, and advocating for immigration, LGBTQ, racial education and awareness opportunities.

The Makers Ministry produces handmade items that can be given to others, such as prayer shawls, cards, fingerless gloves, baby blankets and hats, and lap blankets.

The purpose of the Rector’s Discretionary Fund is to distribute aid to people in need, as deemed appropriate by the rector. It is funded by donations, particularly by the open-plate (non-pledge) offering from the first Sunday of every month.

Various topics presented by our rector, guests, and parishioners are explored throughout the program year on Sundays during the discipleship formation hour from 11:30-12:30. Check the newsletter or Sunday bulletin to see what is currently offered! Middle school and high school students are encouraged to attend along with their parents.

Children’s Chapel

We offer Children’s Chapel during the worship service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Children experience a condensed version of the liturgy where they are invited to sing, read, pray, and act out the liturgy for a better understanding. Children go downstairs with our volunteer leaders at the beginning of the service, then return to the sanctuary during the Peach so they can join their families for the Eucharist.

Godly Play

We offer Godly Play after the service during formation time. Godly Play is a curriculum for children modeled after the Montessori method of education. It is based on the assumption that children can—and do—experience God, but at their own developmental levels through sacred stories (Old and New Testaments), parables, and liturgical actions. Through this powerful language, the wondering, and the use of various materials, children develop their own creative capacities for making meaning of their relationship with God. Godly Play is taught by volunteers and is offered downstairs during the discipleship formation hour from 11:30-12:30.

The Compline Group, formerly known as the Young Adult Group, is a twice-monthly time for fellowship, always concluding in praying the Compline liturgy together.

The Growth, Evangelism, and Fellowship (GEF) Committee plans evangelism and fellowship opportunities for our church family and the broader community.

Examples of activities include the Epiphany white elephant gift exchange, Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers, Pentecost picnic on the front lawn, a White Caps baseball outing, a fish boil, an Aquinas College theatre outing, the blessing of the Bioswale, the Christkindl Markt outing, and the Christmas cookie exchange.

More regular gatherings include the Holy Rollers biking group (seasonal in summer), St. Pauli’s Guild (monthly social get togethers), the Renegade Readers book club, and the Grace Gamers Guild.
