Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church
Service and Offerings
Church services are held each Sunday at 11:30 am. Services incorporate Arabic, Dinka and English languages. Prayer and hymn books in Dinka and Arabic are used. The preachers vary each Sunday among the six principal evangelists, the rector and visitors.Sudanese Grace Church is a Parochial Mission Church of Grace Church. It is governed by a Vestry of twelve members which include: Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Building Manager, Assistant Building Manager, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Monitor, Assistant Monitor, Information and Assistant Information.
In September 2005 SGEC was recognized as an official Parochial Mission Church of Grace Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Western Michigan. Its Vicar is The Rev. Nixon McMillan with a governing board of members of SGEC and Grace Church.
There is a Mothers' Union in which all women of the church are invited to participate. They coordinate church meals and celebrations and meet in support of one another.
Youth
SGEC has an active church choir composed of young men and women. They sing most Sundays and at special events and joint services with Grace Church. If you wish to join the choir, contact Zachariah Char, 616-340-1375Youth Ministry includes participating in the choir and learning traditional dances. Middle School and High School students are invited to participate in the Grace Church youth programs. These include weekly church school and fellowship opportunities, service projects and mission trips. Sunday School is provided for children of SGEC in conjunction with Grace Church.
