About Grace Episcopal Church

Grace Church was established in 1871 as a mission Sunday school,
incorporated as a parish in 1875 and moved into our present building in 1954. Throughout our history, we have been blessed with dynamic lay leadership, growth and stability. We are an ecumenical church, inviting all baptized Christians to receive the bread and wine during our celebration of Holy Eucharist. Our building is also home to Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church, whose members are African refugees resettled in the Grand Rapids area.

Our church community is highly intergenerational, with lots of growing families, who have been attracted to our dynamic children's and youth ministry. In fact, we are one of the few Episcopal churches in West Michigan to have both a Director of Christian Formation and a Youth Minister. As you look around, you'll see a mix of older and younger people; we are proud to have several generations of one family actively involved in our parish life.

Mission and Vision

The Grace Church mission is: to be a church community where every member lives as a disciple of Christ. Our vision is to be a Christian community where every member is engaged in personal spiritual growth, in the life of the church, and in service to the world around us. As disciples, we believe our lives are being transformed through our relationships with God and each other. And that we are obliged to carry our faith into our daily lives and into all that we do.
